Prey Patch Fixes PS4 Performance Issues. As well as over 30 additional fixes for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. First Day on the Job, Break Out, An Office with a View, Through a Glass Darkly, Detour.

Arkane Studios’ Prey is out this Friday but its Day One patch is currently available to download. It’s 1.3 GB on PS4 which isn’t too hefty (though the Xbox One and PC patch sizes could differ).

Some of the issues the patch resolves include frame rate troubles, random crashes and Phantom corpses now having proper names if they used to be NPCs. It’s also possible to change the game’s dialogue to English regardless of your region.

On Twitter, co-creative director Raphael Colantonio said that issues with the game audio have been fixed in the final build. This was following complaints from demo players that the music could become way too loud when confronted by enemies.

• Gloo Gun no longer loses functionality after placing too many gloo balls in a level

Powers

• Various fixes to Mimic Matter ability
• Player can now open EMP’d doors with their leverage abilities
• Backlash now properly prevents suit damage while active
• Player’s attacks will no longer consume Backlash charges
• Objects targeted by Lift field will be highlighted properly
• Remote Manipulation can now be used to open most containers

If you've pre-ordered a PS4 and want to be completely ready to go as soon as the console is out of the box, the day-one patch for the system is available to download right now at the official Sony PlayStation site.

The site lists the complete instructions for downloading and installing the patch, but all you need to get started is a computer with an Internet connection and 1GB USB stick. On the USB, make a folder name PS4, then put one labeled UPDATE inside. You'll download the patch 1.5 file into that 'update' folder.

While the console will function without the update, here are the features that get opened up:
