Crusader Kings 2 Latest Version

Holy Fury is the biggest and best expansion yet for Crusaders Kings 2. Years after its release, this expansion revamps the game into an almost completely new title. The list of changes is way too numerous. The developers probably had the same idea because the description on this page does not do this expansion justice. The free patch 3.0 that came with this expansion included updated mechanics for crusades, map updates, AI improvements, a new combat system, UI update and lots of quality of life improvements.

Being an heir to the throne and inheriting it is not enough to be a legitimate king with this expansion. You have to be crowned in order to be seen by your subjects as a legitimate ruler. Crowning is a surprisingly interesting system that has certain hidden features that might pop up when certain conditions are met, such as a war breaking out before your crowning ceremony. Holy Fury also introduces a ton of new events that add flavour to the game. Pagans have also recieved Warrior Lodges to join as societies.

There are also new portraits for the French, Italians, Western Slavs, Hungarians and Arabs. Finally there is a new shattered world system that allows you to randomly generate a world with different states and religions with a few surprises. The few problems that are present in this DLC are mostly balance related. In my first game the Children’s Crusade of all things became the most powerful independent realm at one point steamrolling the Middle Eastern muslim realms. All things considered, Holy Fury is the best expansion to be released for Crusader Kings 2. It is amazing to see paradox continue to support this game years after its release.
